PMO Models

A program management office (PMO) is an effective approach for organizations to use to enhance their ability to achieve strategic and operational results. Understanding the fundamental aspects of traditional PMOs and which components will fit given the organizational context is a challenge. This class is designed to give participants an overview of the basics types of PMOs and which might work best for different types of organizations.

Peggy Joyner has 36 years of both state and federal experience in developing and establishing program management offices. Peggy created and implemented the State of Georgia's Enterprise PMO for large-scale IT projects and is currently working on assignment at the Centers for Disease Control under contract with BearingPoint where she is leading the development of an enterprise performance life cycle framework which includes the project management methodology and IT governance for CDC. Peggy has held various leadership positions within the PMI Atlanta Chapter including Vice President of Membership (2006-2007) and Director at large (for the 2008 year). Peggy has an MBA from Georgia State University and obtained her PMP in 2001. In 2005, Peggy is started Project & Technology Consulting Services, Inc., a small business focusing on the development and implementation of Program Management Offices.
